Last night was the studios holiday party and being funemployed now and having my birthday this past Monday I decided to ask everyone to draw or sign my sketchbook! It was definitely a fun thing trying to run around to everybody and get a little thing. Many folks felt put on the spot I think but that’s half the fun! You can peek into my sketchbook and you can draw me a thing - fairly trade! The angry Faruk could be one of my favourites because he’s a stupid talented artist but has this biker persona so his drawing is pretty comical. Oh! Hah and someone wrote me a love letter which is hilarious.
Only downside was the pen bleeds through quite a bit and my pencil broke pretty early in the night - ooh well things to learn for next time! :D
Wanting to wish everyone a Happy and Jolly Holiday Season!
Merry Christmas everyone! <3

Today will be my last day as Animation Director on GrojBand.
I would just like to say that this experience has been the highlight of my career in animation. I got to work with such amazing talented Directors and a hungry young crew. This show is built for animators - its fun, its silly, its just an all around joy to bring these characters to life.
I started GB while animation was already in production and it took me a couple of months to really feel out the show and find my legs. I had come off a contract where I wasn’t inspired or driven and as soon as I fell onto GB I felt inadequate and unsure about all the decisions I was making - Heck sometimes I still am! But GB really gave me the injection of inspiration and confidence I was lacking. I feel creative and inspired not just at work but for myself.
Working with Mark and Todd was a good kick in the ass - they don’t give up and I admire and respect that about them - they squeeze every last bit to make every episode as high of quality as we could get and I’m so glad they did.
Our deadlines to finish an episode were no cake walk - I was often the last to lock up the studio, working 10 - 14 hour days and still had a bucket of things to do. I literally could not have accomplished this schedule without my wonderful and understanding Animation Coordinator. She was the reminders I needed, the communication between departments and an understanding ear to vent to - thank you for putting up with me.
This was the only contract I’ve ever had Revision artists on. Without their flexibility, dedication and will to push the animation I would have surely crumbled. They were the extra arms I needed and that extra coat of wax on our episodes. I’m so thankful to have worked with all of them on finishing up episodes.
Majority of the animation crew were junior animators but they were all beady eyed and eager to learn which is so refreshing! It still blows me away at how much they improved over the course of the season. I wasn’t always easy on them and I know for sure the schedule wasn’t an easy one but I hope they had fun animating all the shenanigans - I know I was pretty envious!
I also had the pleasure of working with a top notch Art Director. His eyes on the episodes throughout the season was a huge relief. His efficient work ethic and attention to details are far beyond my understanding! I was always glad to have his input and just try to understand how he visualizes the show as a whole.
Our editor, who’s eagle eyes could not be met! She was the anchor of everything keeping us all on one page and making sure we all crossed our t’s and dotted our i’s. The perfect match for this show. She was relied on to do much more then editorial, filling in any gaps which needed to be filled and doing a damn fine job!
And of course the one making all the tough decisions at no easy cost is our line producer. Having to bargain, communicate and defend all at the same time to all parties. Thank you - and I’m sorry for all the times I was difficult or stubborn.
Now I’m off to unknown ventures - Hoping to work on a bit of my own projects or silly animations and to expand myself away from the hectic life of production. I am equal parts sad and happy to say good bye to GrojBand. Sad for obvious reasons and happy because I am so proud of what we were able to accomplish.
I think we have some of our strongest episodes coming up in the second part of season 1 and I am so excited to see the fan base get a hold of them! I will probably spend a day making GIF’s which I wont be able to post!!
In any case I’m getting teary! So, here’s to GrojBand, fingers crossed for a season 2!
Thanks for comin’ out everyone!
PS - There’s also a bundle of folks whom I didn’t mention but were all a part of the making process and I appreciate and thank every one of you! <3
